Humanitarian Priorities
We work with 501(c)(3) organizations operating in the Utah Area. We provide both cash and commodity donations to support initiatives that offer temporary assistance and promote long-term self-sufficiency. This year, we are emphasizing the needs of women and children and we continue to serve other demographics. We fund projects in each of the following priority areas and have outlined some examples.
-
Housing - Emergency shelter, transitional and affordable housing, rental assistance, or basic household commodities from Deseret Industries or Deseret Manufacturing
-
Healthcare - Mental health counseling services, medical outreach programs, healthcare clinics, hygiene kits, or clothing from Deseret Industries
-
Food - Bishop Storehouse commodities, low-income meal distribution programs, or emergency food assistance
-
Education - Early childhood literacy programs, job training, after-school tutoring programs, adult education initiatives and scholarships, or nutrition education
-
Other humanitarian initiatives
The Utah Area expects that organizations receiving donations will assist beneficiaries in becoming more self-sufficient. This will involve connecting them with other community resources and regularly monitoring their progress.
